In 2005, The Hunter Valley Gardens welcomed its first
Artist-In-Residence Artomologist, Jane Davenport.
Jane created a large-scale, outdoors, long-term installation called ‘Ladybird, ladybird The Secrets of a Sophisticated Lady’. For those familiar with Jane’s work, they will notice that the characters featured in the 10 giant postcards that make up this installation are related to those in ‘The Ladybird Chronicles’...
‘Ladybird, ladybird’ opens a man-sized window into a tiny and unseen world as we look over the shoulder of ladybird correspondence. Each postcard offers invaluable ladybird advice .
The exhibition is still installed on it's own trail throughout the Hunter Valley Gardens.

The Ladybird, Ladybird touring Artomological Adventure
consists of 30 huge screened banners that illustrate all the secrets that ladybirds pass down from generation to generation.

The exhibition has graced Botanic Gardens in Australia, new Zealand and Europe.
The award-winning design of the exhibition means it has low impact on venue grounds, but retains maximum impact as each of the banners undulate in the breeze.
Visitors are able to wander through the exhibition and read all the ladybird on their swivelling panels - or can enjoy the images on the whole. The forest or the trees? You decide! |
