Q. What is 'Artomology'?
A. Jane Davenport originally invented the word to describe her work - bug photographer just didn't really describe it!
Q. What is an Artomological Adventure?
A. It's a large-scale, outdoors, public art installation!
Jane and her Imaginality team have dreamed up
and innovated 8 different Artomological Adventures(AA) so far....
[for images and information on each one, please click here]
Each AA is comprised of aproximately 30 giant reproductions of Jane's work and accompanying story or interp panels.

Q. Where are they exhibited?
A. Some of the AA's are permanent installs, such as Ladybird, Ladybird at The Hunter Valley Gardens.
These exhibitions are 'built-in' to the landscape and not suitable for touring.
That is where the Touring AA's come in!
These usually comprise of 30 large scale banners that carry Jane's amazing imagery and co-ordianting interpretation panels to help deliver the exhibitions message.

Q. Do we need any special equipment to stage the exhibit?
A. The touring banner-style installations ar specially designed to be low impact on the grounds and easy to set-up and maintain on a daily basis. the Imaginalty team will complete the initial install and give training to key staff on daily set-up and set-down - which takes aprox 20 mins.
This flexible system also means you can have the exhibit displayed in an open or unsecured area, because it can be put way at night.
Q. What is the usual duration?
A. From one day special events such as World Environment Day at Byron Bay to a month long stay at Sayn Palace, Germany are some recent examples. Jane is also commissioned to create longer-term installations such as 'Frogology' at the Perth Zoo.
For Botanic Grdenes/Zoos we suggest two weeks at the minimum, and four weeks as ideal - the extra weeks gives time for the world's strongest form of marketing
-
word-of-mouth - to work its magic.
Q. What does it cost to hire an Artomological Adventure?
A. Please email us with your Garden or venue details and dates and we will get back to you with prices.
*We only accept quality flower and garden festivals or
events with a flower and garden theme,
Q. How do I book an AA?
A. Please email us with your Garden or venue details and dates and we will liase with you. Once the details are approved, we will issue our ' Letter of Agreement' and then we all start preparations for the exhibition!
Q. Who promotes the exhibition?
A. This is up to you. Some Gardens, such as the National Rhododendron Gardens used 'Ladybird, Ladybird' as the centrepiece for a promotion to attract visitors in their quiet time. The exhibit proved a magnet for both media and the public.
Several small, well placed, beautifully designed advts worked extremely well.
In the case of festivals and events, the exhibition is used to add more excitement and colour to the entertainment on offer and is not promoted as an individual element, but as part of the festivities and regarded as a real 'value-add'.
We can certainly help with your promotion material.
In our experience, the better promoted an event is, the more successful it is - people have to know about your event to come along.
