I met Kass Hall last year as fellow exhibitors at the monster Papercraft Show in Brisbane. I fell in love with her ( although she will kill me for saying this) and her Mum. They  are funny, bonza people. Kass is a mixed -media artist and certified Zentangle instructor. She features in my Supplies Me Workshop, giving her fave pen recommendation!

Way back then, she was working on her book, and I have been waiting for Kass’s book to arrive with great anticipation. It hit the Amazon hit parade before it was even published!

Reading Zentangle Untangled is just like having Kass chat to me. Well maybe not making me laugh as much, you need her in person for that, but her writing voice is very relaxing. I read absorbed the whole book in a few gulps. I didn’t mean for that to happen…I am super-busy… no time for dilly-dallying and reading books…

I have seen and heard about Zentangling, although I have never tried it myself. And since reading Kass’s awesome book, there have been patterns popping up in my journals all over the place! And I’m not usually a pattern person…

I would’nt be so bold as to call it Zentangling…

Janetangling perhaps?

Anyway, whatever it is, I am ENJOYING it!

I used my new Schmincke watercolour half pan 12 set. ( Ooooooh, it is niiiiiice. Crazy nice.  Like go and get some immediately nice. ) For some reason these colours are the very definition of Mexico for me.  I just got invited to go to Cancun to celebrate a birthday with some of my favourite peeps in the Universe… soooo… Cancun coloured Janetangling is bursting out everywhere…

See what you started Kass?!!!!

Jane, because of this blog I found your site. I love, love your art. Your Janetangle is beautiful. Kass’s book is a must have for me. I love to do Zentangles. I’ve been using M.Graham and Windsor Newton watercolors but your pic really shows up some beautiful vibrant colors. Think I might try some Schmincke watercolours. Do you prefer the pans over the tubes? I started working with the WN pans and I really like them. so much easier when you’re up and about. Enjoy your trip. Glad I came to this site.

Oh my goodness!! I saw your watercolors with tangles and I just HAVE to do this! I love your work! Just magnificent. And how fun someone is getting tattooed with a piece of your work!
Your review was wonderful as well. This book is definitely coming my way if I don’t win a copy. A tangling must have it seems!
    Thanks so much!
    Sue

I got to zentangle (or Carytangle!) on the floor of my studio – painted over the concrete and went to town. It was so much fun and so freeing. I think your tangles are wonderful!
